Dublin Youth Theatre holds an open day and auditions in September of each year for potential new members. No preparation is needed, just enthusiasm. You can apply to join here.

The next Open Day and round of auditions will be held in September 2024.

Thanks to funding from the Arts Council, Dublin City Council and the City of Dublin Youth Services Board along with our fundraising efforts and donations from our supporters, membership fees are kept as low as possible, currently €100 a year.

DYT is not an acting school; we are a youth theatre focused more on participation and the social development that theatre offers. As such, participation after the first 10 weeks is optional, no exams are administered, and no certificate is given.

As a member, the only mandatory workshops are the first 10 workshops (usually October to December).  Every First Year Member who wants to participate is given a role in our Debut One Act Festival held at Easter. Parts in all other productions are determined by audition and are not guaranteed. As a member of DYT you will be eligible to join our specialist programmes such as the Writers’ Group and Young Critics. You will also be eligible to apply for programmes run by Youth Theatre Ireland, such as National Youth Theatre and the YTI Young Critics.

Programmes run throughout the year, however the only mandatory programmes are the first 10 workshops as a new member. Some programmes run during school holidays.

DYT produces theatre by young people and for young people, engaging in contemporary theatre while also staging classic shows.
