About the production
An absurd play for absurd times, this irreverent reimagining of Alfred Jarry’s Ubu Roi, performed by the Dublin Youth Theatre ensemble and led by director Dominic O’Brien, with writer CN Smith turns tyranny on its head in a rowdy, raucous romp where the disempowered grab control and have an absolute riot, hilariously skewering authority, authoritarianism, and all the “serious” stuff that makes no sense anyway. It’s rebellion with a punchline.
The innovative production infuses original design with vibrant physicality and stagecraft, creating a compelling and essential experience for theatre enthusiasts of all ages.
