The annual Theatrical Cavaliers table Quiz 2016 will be held in aid of DYT May 22nd 7.30pm

Dublin Youth Theatre and The Theatrical Cavaliers Combine

The young and old of Irish theatre join forces for a fantastic cause!

The 23rd annual Theatrical Cavaliers Cricket Club Gala Quiz (May 22nd , 7.30pm, Teachers Club, Parnell Square West, Dublin 1), a long-running and popular fixture on the arts’ social calendar, will this year be hosted in aid of the Dublin Youth Theatre (DYT) http://www.dublinyouththeatre.com.

With a reputation for belly laughs and fabulous prizes, the event down the years has raised over  €120, 000 for a diverse range of organisations and causes including the Royal Hospital Donnybrook, PALS (the Parkinson’s support group), the Peter McVerry Hostels for Young People and the Capuchin Day Centre. This year, the Theatrical Cavaliers are staying closer to home by donating the entire proceeds of their annual quiz to the Dublin Youth Theatre. DYT is a registered charity, delivering quality artistic experiences through a full and varied drama workshop programme. It produces exciting and challenging theatre made by young people aged 14-22.

Since its foundation in 1977, Dublin Youth Theatre has made a unique contribution to both theatre and youth work. For almost 40 years it has been a safe and welcoming place for Dublin’s youth. Its members meet and engage with other young people in a fun, artistic and social environment. It is not a stage-school or a theatre training training programme, but a voluntary youth club where the main activity is drama. Many of its members however, have over the years gone on to make extraordinary contributions to Ireland’s professional theatre including Enda Walsh (playwright –Misterman, The Walworth Farce, Once – The Musical), Aidan Gillen (actor – Games of Thrones, The Wire, Queer As Folk), Phililp McMahon ( producer, playwright – THISISPOPBABY, Alice in Funderland, Trade) & Camille O’Sullivan (recording artist & performer)

The Theatrical Cavaliers Cricket Club was established in 1987. Its membership is comprised mainly of the theatrical community, including actors, directors, designers, producers, administrators and friends and family of all the above. It is affiliated with The Merrion Cricket Club and plays the majority of its home games there. Its current president is noted Irish actor Stephen Brennan.
