About the production

Written by: Lee Dunne

Music by: John Dunne

Director: Eilis Mullan

The action of Charades takes place at the turn of the century, on New Year’s Eve 1899. The song choices are reflective of the Victorian era and feature well known songs of the time as well as popular music hall numbers.
The first half of the show took place in the upstairs rooms of the house, and for the second half of the show, a ‘musical evening’ took place in the double room on the ground floor. Audience were treated to mince pies and mulled wine and became the party guests!
John Dunne accompanied the cast on piano, and among the numbers were:
Just a song at twilight
I parted my hair in the Middle

The boy I love is up in the gallery

The Twang Man

A unique feature of the production is that the action takes place throughout the DYT house which has been refurbished for the occasion.
