About the production
Written by: Gerard Stembridge
Directed by: Eilis Mullan in collaboration with Gerard Stembridge
a play on two levels
Level One: Low Life
Level Two: High Art
The action takes place late September 1904. The action of both plays is simultaneous.
As usual I am indebted to the cast for their wonderful characterization input at the workshop stage, and to Eilis Mullan who sat me down one day and asked me to write a play for 14 actors, set at the turn of the century, to be performed in a Victorian House, and be about the young James Joyce somewhat, but more about his sisters, brothers, and girlfriend really. Apart from that I had a free hand.
