Dublin Youth Theatre presents: UBU (after Alfred Jarry)

We are so excited to announce that our 2025 ‘Big Show’ production will be UBU (after Alfred Jarry) directed by Dominic O’Brien.

“Bringing a play as audacious and unsettling as UBU to life with Dublin Youth Theatre in 2025, feels like an essential act. In this whirlwind of a global landscape, where young people are navigating complex political realities and grappling with the very notion of their place within it, art offers a vital space for exploration and empowerment. UBU, in its raw and often absurd portrayal of power and revolution, provides a potent lens through which our members can fearlessly examine these themes. A production that offers no easy answers, it’s about igniting critical thinking, fostering dialogue, and amplifying young voices. We are immensely proud to champion this kind of work at Dublin Youth Theatre, because we believe in the transformative power of art to equip young people with the courage to question, to challenge, and to shape the world around them. Working alongside an extraordinary creative team, we’re very much looking forward to bringing this production to an audience this summer.”
