The board of Dublin Youth Theatre is delighted to announce the appointment of Davey Kelleher as Artistic Director. Kelleher joins DYT at the start of 2022, DYT’s 45th year in continuous operation. He succeeds outgoing Artistic Director David Kelly who led DYT for the past 8 years. 

Davey is a talented director, having worked in commercial and independent theatre and opera in Ireland and the UK, most recently Michelle Read’s Bang! in the Dublin Theatre Festival and Twelfth Night for the Lir Academy. He also brings extensive experience of working with young people from mentoring and directing on the award-winning Tenderfoot Programme at the Civic Theatre in Tallaght, co-ordinating festivals and workshops for the Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation in the UK, as well as teaching and directing in the Lir Academy.  He is currently an Associate Artist at the Civic Theatre.

Kelleher will be the 7th Artistic Director of DYT since the role was created in 1995, joining distinguished theatre professionals such as Gerard Stembridge, Mojisola Adebayo, Sarah Fitzgibbon, Willie White and Gary Keegan.
