This years Big Show is…..Thomas Kyd’s ‘The Spanish Tragedy’ a rollicking story of power, privilege, and revenge. This classic play will be brought to life once again with a cast of Dublin Youth Theatre members and under the directorial wand of Aoife Spillane Hinks.

Aoife Spillane-Hinks is a director who works in Ireland and the United States. Irish credits include King Arthur (Royal Irish Academy of Music – Opera Programme); A Thing I Cannot Name and 20 Shots of Opera (Irish National Opera); It’s Not About Love (Making Strange/Dublin Fringe); Holy Mary by Eoin Colfer (National Tour/Breda Cashe Productions); Collected Stories and The Yellow Wallpaper (Then This Theatre); The Motherf***er with the Hat (ORion Productions); Run / Don’t Run (Project Arts Centre/National Tour); The 24 Hour Plays: Dublin (Abbey Theatre); Plaza Suite and Serious Money (Rough Magic); Hamlet (Second Age); Boston Marriage (Gate Theatre/Dublin Theatre Festival); Broken Promise Land (RTE Radio Drama on One & national tour). American credits include Sharon’s Grave, Waiting for Godot, and Our Class (PICT Classic Theatre, Pittsburgh).
She is the founder and lead artist of the Literary Department at Axis Ballymun.
Aoife trained as a director on the Rough Magic SEEDS programme. She holds a BA in Folklore and Mythology from Harvard University and an MA in Drama and Theatre Studies from NUI Galway. She has taught directing in NUI Galway’s MA programme and acting at the Gaiety School of Acting, the Lir Academy, and the Conservatoire at TU Dublin.
She is the co-founder of Then This Theatre.
